Have you ever been drawn to the craftsmanship of old medieval or fantasy books and wished to have one for yourself? As a child, this was a dream of mine that I never let go of. As an adult, I decided to make this dream a reality, but encountered some challenges along the way.
Firstly, I found that most books with the aesthetic I desired were either too expensive or not of interest to me content-wise. Additionally, I struggled to find books that I could personalize through writing or drawing, as most available options were either mass-produced or prohibitively expensive handcrafted items.
Drawing upon my background in various crafts, I decided to try my hand at bookbinding. While my initial attempts using materials such as faux leather from an old jacket and sketchbook paper were less than perfect, I found the process to be incredibly rewarding. With further research and practice, I was able to create books that resemble those found in a professional store.
I am now fully committed to the art of bookbinding and have built up a personal library of beautifully crafted books. As I continue to pursue my passion, I am eager to share my creations with others and provide them with the opportunity to own books reminiscent of a bygone era, either blank or elegantly covered with their favorite designs.
